Notably, the product is quick-frozen using IQF technology to retain its optimal flavor and quality.

Taro is a starchy root vegetable grown in Asia that is now beloved worldwide. It has a brown outer skin and white flesh with purple specks throughout. When cooked, it has a mildly sweet taste and a texture similar to potatoes. Taro is an excellent source of fiber and other nutrients, offering numerous health benefits, including improved blood sugar management, gut health, and heart health.

Frozen taro processing steps:

+ Step 1: Selection: Choose standard taro, remove the thin outer skin, discard roots with blemishes or excessive damage, trim roots and leaves close to the root top, and sort into 2-3 sizes of similar dimensions.

+ Step 2: Water Treatment: The selected taro is washed with clean water to remove dirt or contaminants.

+ Step 3: Blanching: After draining, the taro is blanched in boiling water for a few minutes to inactivate enzymes that could affect quality and shelf life, while preserving the nutritional value and improving texture.

+ Step 4: Cooling: Taro is immediately cooled in cold water to prevent overcooking and maintain texture. Water also helps remove residual heat and excess salt from the roots. Depending on customer requirements, taro is kept whole or sliced.

+ Step 5: Packaging: Taro is then packaged in specially designed moisture-resistant bags or boxes for freezing to avoid ice crystal formation that can affect texture and flavor.

+ Step 6: IQF Freezing: Finally, the packaged taro is quickly frozen using IQF technology at -18°C or lower to prevent bacterial growth and preserve its quality and shelf life. This low-temperature freezing also ensures the taro retains its nutritional value, texture, and flavor.

Each stage is meticulously inspected and monitored, with a strong focus on stringent microbiological standards. This ensures that the exported frozen taro always meets the highest quality standards.
